Postgraduate Studies

I think that a postgraduate degree that I would like to study has to do with international studies, having the ability to apply what I have learned in public administration but at a much more transversal level, which would clearly help me to develop something that I like very much, such as moving around different places and getting to know as much as possible. It mixes two things that I like. On the one hand to have a much more global vision of what happens on the planet, to understand phenomena that we often leave aside by paying too much attention to what happens here, and on the other hand to know, travel and discover other cultures.

Clearly the first to get out of Chile is to have an acceptable knowledge of the English language. I would like to perfect and adapt what I have learned in public policies in some other country at some point in my life, I see it very far in the future really, but it is still one of my goals. When I get to use the "working holiday" I would like to investigate and analyze in which country to study this subject. One candidate that I clearly could not pass up is the Netherlands because that is where the Hague is located, a very well known and highly valued court at an international level.

Your Future Job

My future job is very uncertain, I don't know if tomorrow I will be in a ministry/municipal office or advising the president. Unfortunately all this about the pandemic and the online classes have demotivated me a little with respect to everything that my work and vocation are about. When I feel sad I remember why I entered to study Public Administration, I remember my school, the surroundings where I lived most of my childhood. The desire to change something in the system, even if it is the smallest thing to improve someone's life. My ideal job would be moving around a lot, getting to know different realities and territories. For me it would be very sad to spend 20 years in the same office, I don't see myself happy living that way. As far as money is concerned, as long as I have enough to satisfy my needs and tastes, everything is fine. I don't ask for great luxuries, nor anything so extraordinary. The main thing about my work is to be in constant change, I am afraid to be satisfied with something, to stop having ambition. Without a doubt, I think that this process in college has been the most difficult with respect to questioning what I want to do.

A Meal or Food You Really Like

The truth is that for me as for many people it is difficult to choose a specific food, in my life I have never been "picky" to eat. But if I were forced to choose something it would probably be noodles, it is something very simple and cheap, for that my admiration. On their own they might be boring, they are a dough that can take different shapes and even colors. Much of their magic comes from their sauce or accompaniment. It can be practically anything: from various vegetables, to meats or seafood. One of the ones I like the most is the classic tomato sauce with some kind of meat. Another one that also deserves a mention is the cream with mushrooms. But regardless of what the accompaniment is, it is most likely that I enjoy them with the same desire to each one.

With very little money you can do a lot, besides it is one of the few meals that I can make and they are not bad, you just have to put the past in a pot with boiling water and a little salt. Another factor that I love is its adaptation to different contexts, you can find them in preparations of cultures you have never heard of, in a typical lunch, after a party or meeting with friends, where there is no money, but with a simple package of noodles and water you can do magic.

Probably this preparation is not very healthy because of its ingredients, although it will always depend on the portion served, as long as it is not excessive I think everything is fine.

Cringe

One of the most cringe moments I remember was when I was 16 I think, an age when you definitely don't know what you're doing. Without any doubt the first thing I feel when I remember this anecdote is embarrassment.

I had studied all night because I had a lot of tests the next day, the academic year was coming to a close. As the clock struck 5am I had to choose whether to stay awake or fall asleep not knowing if I would wake up at an appropriate time. After enduring a couple of hours with water and coffee (in my opinion it doesn't work to stay awake) I decided to set off to school. That same day I was supposed to bring a bag of diapers to help the victims of a fire in Valparaiso. Unfortunately, I left them on the bus, the saddest thing is that as soon as I got off the bus, it started moving slowly and while it was speeding a lady leaned out of a window and showed them to me until I slowly saw her disappear in the distance. After arriving empty-handed at the school I thought that nothing else would make my day worse. I was wrong, at the beginning of the first class my teacher asked me why I was wearing 2 completely different sneakers, they were not even the same color. Undoubtedly one of the mornings with more failures I've had.

My favorite holiday

Possibly the best holiday I have ever experienced has always taken place with my friends. This time I think I will choose when I went to La Serena, specifically in January of this year. It is the typical situation where you go out with your friends, rent a house and just enjoy that freedom to the fullest. Definitely going on vacation with family is very different from going out with friends. With friends, it is much more uncertain what will happen at all times. From one moment to the next we can change our plans.  Wake up one day and decide to go to a beach you've never heard of. With family everything is usually more planned and relaxed. Among the activities we did were: Visiting the famous lighthouse (unfortunately it was under repair :c), walking for hours to get to know "cuatro esquinas", perhaps the sector with the most "nightlife". Taking buses without knowing exactly where to go, getting lost walking in the city, etc. All this uncertainty makes me especially enjoy traveling with my friends. Although I have traveled several times to other regions with them, I remember this trip with special affection because of the unexpected and unusual events. One example is that we ended up in a police station for breaking a curfew, for going to buy bus tickets to return to Santiago. Anyway, I hope to continue getting to know and, above all, to continue enjoying every experience I have to live.

A country you would like to visit

The country that I'm definitely interested in knowing is Germany. since I was very young I was attracted by the way they showed in cartoons the festivities with their peculiar costumes, the very different structures of houses or buildings that we commonly see in Chile, the "big men drinking beer" and their culture in general. As I grew up I discovered that in the south of Chile we also have a bit of their culture due to the colonization that existed. Another reason why I would like to go there is obviously its history, as sad as the events of the second world war, and later the construction of the wall, it is still something interesting and worth studying. Being in the place where the events took place has no comparison to reading about it or seeing it in pictures.

I hope in a few years to be able to visit this country with the help of savings and the "working holiday" benefit that allows you to stay for about a year in this and many other countries around America and Europe.  In my future stay, I would mainly like to work and get to know as much as I can, to know what it means to travel and live alone in a totally different culture is something that motivates me a lot.

Greetings!
